  When I was served I explained my problem, the guy at the counter grabbed my wheel, went into the back, came back out with a replacement nut. I asked how much and he said not to worry about payment.

  I went back and questioned what they did and was informed they do not remove chain they just wipe with a rag and relube. They adjusted gears and brake calipers.

  I have just done 110kms and it was tight from the get-go. Gear changes, braking....riding 400-500kms a week you know how it rides....it honestly felt better than brand new. This bike has been around the world with me and seen many mechanics but it has never felt as tight and responsive. I always thought the attention my bike received was good but this is really something again. I need to do a few more weeks of riding to be sure but I doubt I will be disappointed. Sometimes the best things are right on your doorstep. I will update....

  I've had a bad history with bike shops, I'm not a regular rider and it seems like the staff can tell that about me immediately, and am usually met with a snobby attitude.

  One of the nuts that hold my front wheel on had come off during transit, and this was the closest bike store, so I went in to get another one, bracing myself for the worst.

  The shop was fairly busy, had a family in the back looking at a lot of bikes, and an older gentleman at the counter finalising his payment. Waited patiently at the counter with my front wheel and remaining nut in hand.

  I had a major service performed today. They are my LBS but I normally use a bike shop in town. I am quite fussy with my bike (Avanti Quantum 3.0; Ultegra group set, Quarq power crank and Mavic Carbone SLE wheel set).
